Each year, with the help of our community, The Vineyard New Outreach Ministry Community provides children with school supplies.
Sometimes the only difference between an A+ student and a failing student is having basic supplies to do homework and participate in class. Because 81% of the children served by The Vineyard New Outreach Ministry live on a family income of less than $14,000 annually, after the most basic of needs of the family are met, school supplies may not fit into that budget.
In September The Vineyard and Dollar General joined together in the Back 2 School 2010 Giveaway. We were able to supply children in the community with much need school supplies such as:
■3 Ring Binders
With the help of First Book we were able to give each child two to three free books during the giveaway. Thanks to the generous support of Random House Children’s Books. The nationwide goal is to read with kids for 10 minutes a day, but first you need a book!
Because of Sponsors like First Book our Raising Readers Program has been a Success.
Thank you Dollar General, First Book, and those in the community that made donations.

We have a wide variety of opportunities available for volunteers. These include:
Picking up donated food:
This involves picking up food from retailers that have agreed to donate to the pantry (times vary).
This involves gathering, sorting, arranging, and putting away clothing donations (flexible hours).
This involves doing administrative support work such as scheduling volunteers, record keeping, writing thank you notes, etc. (flexible hours).
This involves working with teams during and after food drives to collect, sort, and put away donations (scheduled once or twice a year)
Serving on a leadership committee:
We have four committees that oversee the operations and planning for the Center. Each takes on a different aspect of ensuring that the Center operates to its full potential! (committees meet monthly with times varying according to the schedules of committee members)
•Operations: prepares for the day-to-day work of the pantry and support tasks.
•Finance: tracks donations, spending and prepares the budget.
•Volunteer Support: provides recruiting, training, scheduling, and support for volunteers.
•Fundraising and Marketing: helps link the Panty to the community through awareness-raising and donation

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE / URGENT
The Vineyard New Outreach Ministry Toys for Tots Drive
September 20th, 2010 | Greenville, MS
The Vineyard New Outreach Ministry, a faith based, 501c3, Nonprofit organization, located in Greenville MS that distributes food, clothing and other necessities to individuals, children and families that lack these essentials due to, poverty, no/limited income, layoffs, disabilities, unexpected bills, homelessness, domestic violence or any other adverse situation.
The Vineyard New Outreach Ministry is pleased to announce our second year of being a participant of Toys for Tots. “Our goal in 2010 is to collect enough toys for 1,000 children. Last year approximately 650 children in the area received toys through our program at The Vineyard New Outreach Ministry. The toys go to families in need, Says Pastor Donald Addison, Director". The gift of a shiny new toy – something that most children take for granted – means to a needy child that someone cares, that he/she hasn’t been forgotten, that Christmas hasn’t passed him/her by.
“The Outreach Center is very proud of the generosity of its volunteers, community spirit and is delighted that we can help make the holiday season a happy one for children in need,” said Minister Jerry Shelton.
Members of the community drop new or used, unwrapped toys in collection boxes, positioned in local businesses – this is where you come in. If you are a local business, you are an important member of the community. We are asking that you allow us to put a box in your place of business, so that members of the community can drop off toys. Coordinators pick up these toys and store them in central warehouses where the toys are sorted by age and gender for the special day. For more information contact Donald Addison at 662-537-4903 or 662-820-6470.
Greenville Toys for Tots Drive Begins September 20th 2010 through December 20th, 2010
